Day 8 - Item 15

From agents Barbara Poelle (Irene Goodman Literary) and Holly Root (Waxman Literary): Afternoon tea, either in NYC (at a time to be agreed upon) or in Orlando, at the Romance Writer's of America conference, plus a bag of books from their respective clients. Teleconference afternoon tea is also available, all the better for the winning bidder not to be able to check the contents of those teacups.

Note from Holly: If you would like an idea of the hilarity that is sure to ensue from this pairing please to enjoy Barbara's blog: http://heydeadguy.typepad.com/heydeadguy/barbara-poelle/

  3. Hi Courtney! I'm here, seriously considering outbidding you.

    $99

(because I remember how much you like the fun numbers - it was you, wasn't it?)

    ReplyDelete
  4. Courtney :0) - I think this one is getting out of my range. It would be a great one to win, too. Good luck!!

  5. I have to say. I loved the pictures. Whoever was diving with the sharks, better them then me. The picture of the Cat it looks like the poor thing has already had too much caffine.

  6. $140.00

Awww. sruble - I will miss you ;o) thanks for the luck!

  7. Two for one? Plus a little nip in the tea? Sweet! $145.00

    ReplyDelete
  8. Two for one in Orlando...priceless. $175.00

    ReplyDelete
  9. hmm... I'll be in Orlando... sooo worth it! $200.00

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm trying my best to get to Orlando so I'll go $250.00

  11. Did I mention that the winner is of course TOTES free to bring some pages to the sit down convo for us to read and discuss? AAAAND if you perhaps bring an article of clothing, i.e. anything from a chicken suit to a feather boa and I wil wear it for the duration of our conversation? I have always wanted to wear one of those giant band leader hats. Or some kind of fez. (Not really, I just think a lot of conversations should end with: "Or some kind of fez.")

    ReplyDelete
  12. oh boy. just came back here to bid and NOW it's going to look like I own a fez. *sigh* here's hoping I find one in time.

    $275

    ReplyDelete
  13. I will donate the world's most unattractive bridesmaid dress to the winner, for placement upon Ms. Poelle's person. This may be particularly effective if the meeting is in Orlando, since I'm pretty sure this dress is made of some nonbreathable polymer outlawed by the Geneva convention.

    ReplyDelete
  14. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!! Noooooooooo! And someone just pointed out to me that the winner might bring a t-shirt that says "Janet Reid Rules". This may be backfiring horribly, but I am shark of my word.....

    ReplyDelete
  15. I can't pull off absurd costumes with the same panache as Poelle. It's a gift, really. Once you see how good she is at it you'll be altered on a molecular level. But I am a team player, and it is for a good cause and all...so I will HAPPILY take pictures.

  16. The mind spins with possibilities... :)
    $300

    ReplyDelete
  17. Is there a limit of ONE article of clothing? I'm envisioning a chicken suit WITH a feather boa AND a fez. And, of course the T-Shirt that says "Janet Reid Rules."

    ReplyDelete
  18. I can't stand it, got to jump in.

$350, and I'm bringing a pink feather boa!

    ReplyDelete
  19. $360 - I'm Canadian, I think red plaid would look good!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Got to stick with the Pink feather boas! Orlando here we come!

    $375

    ReplyDelete
  21. Lara, I'm thinking she'd look good in the pink feather boa AND red plaid shirt! Wanna share? :-)

    $380

    ReplyDelete
  22. You may be right Julie. Pink and red go so well together! Sharing might be the right thing!!!

    $390

    ReplyDelete
  23. Pink boa and lumberjack shirt? Please, Poelle is wearing that at the office right now. Bring it. I know you've got scarier.

But I like the cut of your jib, Julie and Lara. So for our DTWTFN Super-Special Twist (because don't all these items get a SST?)--if bids go past $500, you can bring a friend.

But I must confess, this is a selfish move on my part. 'Cause it'll be a lot easier for three of us to hoist Barbara into that Tauntaun I fully expect someone to bring for her to wear (there's time between now and then to build this: http://bit.ly/3toe1j , right?).

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well. Clearly this is just going to turn into Root and two lovely authors having tea while I smash over a table and fall through a plate glass window in some sort of mascott outfit in the background. But I will do it, Nashville, I will do it for you!

    ReplyDelete
  25. But does she have a Canadian Girls Kiss Ass t-shirt? (to go under the red plaid and pick boa, of course!):-)

    $400

    ReplyDelete
  26. OMG! That's supposed to say Canadian Girls Kick Ass. Kick not Kis...

*Falls down in a dead faint*

    ReplyDelete
  27. "More hats" she croaked under the weight of a T-rex mask, a fedora, an official English bobby's hat, and a beanie from the Skull & Bones society at Yale.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ahh! The Tauntaun suit is inspired! With boa, fez, and "Janet Reid Rules" T-shirt, of course. Although, the Canadian Girls T-shirt sounds nice, too. :) $410

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wouldn't a feather boa AND a chicken suit be redundant? I was thinking chaps (or maybe gaucho pants), and a bolero jacket with the fez. $420.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oooh! And a whip, she definitely needs a whip. Heh, this is starting to sound like a cover shoot for my western bordello romance.

    $430

    ReplyDelete
  31. Had the same thought about the boa and chicken suit--too many feathers--which is why I was SO excited about the Tauntaun/boa/fez with JRR T-shirt ensemble. $435

    ReplyDelete
  32. Guys, when I said pink feather boa, I was thinking that would be the only thing they would wear. I should have said, Birthday suit and pink feather boa. But I'm thinking some body paint would be appropriate also, bewahahahahaha.
    $440

    ReplyDelete
  33. I reserve the right for at LEAST a unitard. And we are bringing a bag of books, so I am going to go ahead and say I reserve the right to wear the bag as well.

    ReplyDelete
  34. We wouldn't want to cause a scandal with you stark nakers. Maybe I'll bring you some muckluks to wear. Genuine moose hide and rabbit fur!

    $450

    ReplyDelete
  35. Julie, have you been to Florida in July???? HOT!
I'm starting to think maybe a mermaid costume with the pink feather boas. That would fit the Disney theme, don't you think?
    $455

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sorry, Lara. I tend to forget where I am in relation to the rest of the world. :-) I think the mermaid costume would be lovely.

    $475

    ReplyDelete
  37. Julie, I must respectfully bow out of this glorious competition and depart the field of honor. You have been a worthy opponent with much deeper pockets than I. But I hope to meet you in Orlando. I will regret missing the tea, but not the tauntaun. Adieu worthy bidders and fantastic, giving agents Holly and Barbara, I salute you!

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's been fun, Lara! In fact, if it gets high enough and I win, I'll bring you as my guest! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Julie, If it gets to the point you need a few hundred dollars to win, count me in and I'll supply the extra $$! It's been great fun! Go girl!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sadly, here is where I bow out--unless I have the winning Powerball ticket. Someone please post the pictures!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Rubbing my hands together as I anticipate what to take to Orlando with me for Ms. Poelle to wear...

Lucky for her, whatever it is will have to go on a plane with me and since we have to pay for our darned suitcases these days, will probably not be too big or too outrageous.

Of course, I could wait until I got to Disneyworld and buy something obnoxious there...Oh, the possibilities.

Seriously, ladies, I'm looking very much forward to tea with you. Until Orlando :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am HAPPY to ship a box to you at your hotel. I"m happy to stock the box with wardrobe items of course...and a camera.

Please dear god, someone take pictures.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Can we send a camera crew along for this? This is the dream team tea party...
