  5. I wish that I would've had money to participate in these auctions (alas, I am a 17-year-old, jobless high school student), but I have to say, this whole thing is so inspiring. It's so easy to be pessimistic about people, but this event just shows how awesome and generous the publishing industry is, as well as people in general. Great video and great job guys!

  18. You all are inspiring and the video was wonderful (even if it did make me want to cry). It's amazing what you were able to accomplish in such a short amount of time, and how you've managed to make it easy for everyone to help out by donating, bidding, or even just spreading the word.

  20. Wow! Okay, y'all -- who are too adorable! -- made me cry. Maybe not in public, but in front of construction guys with sledge hammers and drills who are destroying my master bathroom as I type. You also made me laugh, so it balanced out.

As others have said, I'm in awe. What you did is not only amazing, it's truly an inspiration. I'm honored to have taken part and will definitely be buying your books. Hope you'll have time to sleep for a week when this is over. You've so earned it! xo

  22. I haven't won an item (yet, but I'm trying) and couldn't afford to bid on some of the ones I wanted to, but this has been a wonderful experience. I'm amazed at how many people have come together to help Nashville. Thank you all for doing this! You are amazing!!

  23. I don't know how many times I've said "What if?" and then let other people talk me out of it... I'm in awe of your courage and tenacity. Next time I'm going to do my what if! You have inspired us all!

  26. Kerri, they had way too many donations to handle, due to the extreme generosity of the community. The auction needed to end before they all pulled their hair out. Besides dealing with the flood on a personal level, Mandy, Myra, and Victoria all have books and lives and jobs of their own that need their full attention. Their loyalties in running this auction were--as they should have been--to the people suffering in the floods, NOT to the authors who felt slighted because their item just did not fit into the limited timetable V M and M were able to commit to this auction.

If you would like to organize something else with the items that didn't fit, or even find a way to auction off only your donation, I'm sure both the flood victims and our hostesses here would applaud your efforts as well.

  30. No offense intended.

Absolute best of wishes to all the lovely, hardworking hostesses.

    Goodnight Nashville.

  31. Wow. I can't believe someone just came on here and started stuff after all these ladies have done for the flood victims.

    *shakes head*

  32. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and we are indeed sorry we couldn't continue this auction any longer than we have. As Hannah mentioned, we all have lives, and jobs, and books, and things which we happily neglected for this beautiful cause, but which we MUST return to. We are as ever honored to have led this auction.

  35. If you are unable to use alternative energy for your entire house, start with just one room. You can use alternative energy sources in one room and when you are ready, install it in another room. This way you are not overwhelmed with the expense of making over your house to use alternative energy.
