An Update on Your Hostesses

We have absolutely loved hosting this auction. All three of us have been humbled, overwhelmed and encouraged by the tremendous support of this community.

We are also ... exhausted.

You guys really surprised us. The donations came pouring in. And they NEVER EVER STOPPED. Like, seriously, another email just popped up.

We've come to the realization that in addition to the two hundred items we've posted or have yet to post, there are well over two hundred more unscheduled donations in our inbox.

As much as we'd love to continue indefinitely, we cannot. We made an attempt to bundle those two hundred plus items still in the inbox and then we started crying. And then we drank a little. And then we came to the conclusion that IT MUST END SOMEWHERE.

So it's going to end with ROUND TEN - which will go up this Saturday and end Monday at midnight CENTRAL STANDARD TIME.

HOWEVER, for those of you who'd still like to contribute: T-SHIRTS ARE ON THE WAY.

We'll take orders here after the last auction is closed. We're trying to keep the price around $15, and we'll post the design as soon as we have one.

The hope is that you all understand how (I need an adverb but I really can't think of one)-ly grateful we are for the many, many donations and how sad we are to not be able to use them all. Your generosity is TRULY overwhelming.

That said, we're VERY EXCITED to bring you the next three days worth of auction items. They are spectacular.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for donating, bidding and spreading the word. You can contribute directly to The Community Foundation by clicking the tab above.

P.S. - J.K. Rowling, we're saving one spot on day ten just for you, just in case. Better hurry, you don't want Suzanne Collins to decide to snatch it up!

(Nothing would surprise us now.)

  1. YOu guys have done a great job

I would hate to see all those items go to waste.

I wanted you guys to know I would be happy to take over the auction site and continue it. Im sure I could find a couple people to help.

    Let me know! :)

  2. Thank you, Shelli!

We appreciate the offer so much, but we're going to conclude the auction portion of Do The Write Thing for Nashville after round ten.

I'm sure that if you wanted to start another auction, the response would be tremendous.

  3. You're completely rocking this event. Great job, and thanks for all your efforts!

  4. You guys are so so so so so amazing.

  5. OK :) I just didnt want you guys to feel alone in this effort. YOu all did an awesome job! and thanks for having the heart and time to do this for Nashville :)

  6. Thanks so much, Shelli, but after all of us putting in 18 hours days, we'd like to end this on day ten with some really big items and call it good--for now. We may come back to this later so we're keeping our possibilities open! :)

  7. Thanks Grace and Chloe, and thank you Shelli, for helping us promote.

The last three days are packed!

Victoria has line edits, I'm expecting my revision letter at the end of the week and Mandy has a full-time job. Also, my husband and children no longer know what I look like. SO ... we have to stop sometime. Ten is a nice round number!

  8. You three are better'n chocolate! Thanks for the amazing efforts!

  9. Thank you so much for what you've done here! I'm looking forward to buying a T-shirt. :)

  10. I'm sure this was a lot of work, but think about how much good you did.

I was thinking that maybe this could be something that gets done every six months or so. But every six months, a new charity is picked. If they can raise $20,000 in a few days, imagine what they could do over the years. Clearly writers are willing to spend the money, AND it’s a tax deduction. It’s win/win!

This was such a HUGE success!

  11. God Bless all of you and your hard work.

  12. I can only echo Steve Mooser: "what an amazing community we are all part of." You three make me proud to belong to the same club that you're in!

  13. Wow! You three are awesome! I can't afford most of the things I bid on but I think you're doing great. Thanks so much. Will you still be offering the raffle, by any chance?

  14. Hi Stella!

Raffles are illegal in Tennessee, so we can't. Sorry! :(

  15. You all are rockin' it, ladies! And who said writers are poor or starving? Not the bidders on these items!

  16. You all have been doing an amazing job and putting in tons of hours. Kuddos to all that you have done and for knowing when you need to be done.

Looking forward to the t-shirt too, as I keep getting bid out of my price range (which is a good thing when it's for a good cause).

Amanda, Victoria, and Myra, you rock!!! Seriously :)

  17. You ladies are AMAZING!! Thanks for all your amazing industry and good will and tremendous positive spirits. You make the world a better place, and I don't mean the money you're raising. Thank-you.

  18. You guys have done an awesome job, don't you dare apologize for ending it "early." You three show how even just a few people have the power to make all the difference in the world. God bless.

I know this isn't original, but if there's anything you guys need as far as help - sorting through emails, checking up on winning bids, etc. - please let me know. I'd love to give a few hours of my time to help out.

    All the best,

  19. I'm still amazed both at the response and at you three. You guys are the best. I'm proud of our writing community!

  20. Nice update!
