agent Mary Kole of Andrea Brown Literary: A full YA or MG manuscript critique.
Note: Mary will add a phone call to the critique IF the bid goes past $600.
*Note from Mary: If you are generous enough to win this item, I will do the critique WHENEVER you are ready. Don't let your "unfinished" or "work-in-progress" status stop you.
Holy crap, I really wish I had money now! Good luck, everyone!ReplyDelete
Mary, you are you my hero! This is such a great opportunity with the benefit of helping Nashville. I am so going for that phone call.ReplyDelete
Would you critique a picture book????ReplyDelete
YourHomeEditor--check back tonight. ;)ReplyDelete
is there a time window within which the MS must be submitted for this? (I'm in rewrites) :)ReplyDelete
See Mary's blog post about that here (near the end):
And good luck! :)
Hey all, thank you for bidding! I've addressed this on my blog but I'll address it here. If you are generous enough to win this item, I will do the critique WHENEVER you are ready. Don't let your "unfinished" or "work-in-progress" status stop you. I'll be your agent/editor on call!ReplyDelete
Marybk - thank you. That was so thoughtful to let me know. :)ReplyDelete
Mary K - thank you for the gift.
Oh, I just can't let this one go yet.ReplyDelete
This item's auction ends on my birthday. No chance you all would let me win as a birthday present, would you? ;-)ReplyDelete
Amanda, That is just so low--playing the birthday card!ReplyDelete
(My birthday present is offering you security against the guilt you would feel if your birthday needs deprived the poor people of Nashville of much-needed help.) ;-)
lol! What a wonderful present Chris. Happy Early Birthday to you Amanda! Sorry guys, the people of Nashville need a little more. ;)ReplyDelete
Corinne, I call your LOL and raise you a LMAOATWTTB*!ReplyDelete

(Grabs popcorn and settles in to watch the fun.)
p.s. Happy Birthday Amanda!
Who needs a house, food or electricity? Time to blow my charity budget for the year.
Happy Birthday Amanda...
BTW my prediction is that by the time I post this it will be out bid, and when it whole thing finishes, it will go over $1000.
Oh no! Lost again. I'm CSPPOTSATPIMCC*!ReplyDelete
Good luck everyone else. And happy birthday Amanda!
*Crying So Pitifully People On The Street Are Throwing Prozac In My Coffee Cup
Wow, I am so out. But I am really glad this is still going! I agree that it will probably shoot over $1000, so happy bidding. And happy birthday Amanda :-)ReplyDelete
Funniest acronyms EVER.ReplyDelete
Not my birthday until tomorrow, but thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone :-DReplyDelete
$805. Hope it doesn't go to $1000, lol. That'll be a very expensive birthday present to myself
What? Amanda--you're still there? Well, having driven the price up another $285, I'm now very comfortable with you getting your birthday wish. (Can't speak for the others, unfortunately.)ReplyDelete
LOL, you have gotten Nashville more money *and* entertained us in the process. You deserve to take a bow, Chris.ReplyDelete
Thank you so much for your (hilarious) bids! Now less chatting, more bidding! :PReplyDelete
(Can you blame me for stirring the pot?)
Counting my coffee can money (and so sorry for undoing your birthday, but happy birthday, anyway, Amanda), but I'll go to $850ReplyDelete
We'll be serving Top Ramen and Spaghetti-o's from my bird flu stash for dinner the rest of the month. Good to simplify...ReplyDelete
$900. Very excited!ReplyDelete
$1000!! and very worth it.ReplyDelete
glad I took some auction viagra.ReplyDelete
All the cool kids are doin' it so....ReplyDelete
now now, peer pressure can be dangerous. ;)ReplyDelete
I'm in. See you at midnight!
Wow. Too rich for the birthday girl's blood. Good luck, folks.ReplyDelete
Hi guys, just stopped by to see-- Holy crap! $1,300?! Is that Monopoly money? Are there hallucinogens in the Nashville floodwaters? (Put a bottle of THAT up for auction and you'll hit 6 figures.)ReplyDelete
Well, all I can say is it's for a good cause. But for that kind of money, Mary Kole better use different colored pencils and make cool doodles in the margins of your manuscript. Raving about the writing would be nice, too... (Although, if that's included, I might start bidding again.)
I can rave and I can doodle. I think notes might be more helpful, though. Thank you all so much for your bids...I can't wait to see what happens and am really looking forward to working with the winner!ReplyDelete
I'm long past my budget. Congrats Mary!
I'm predicting it's going to 1500 by midnight.
Happy birthday Amanda
Man, I had no idea just how much I LOVED Nashville. And Mary is clearly a rock star!ReplyDelete
$1400 I'm crossing my fingers!ReplyDelete
Midnight central time is killing me. So is this bidding. But it's for a great cause. So here goes....$1500ReplyDelete
I have nothing witty to say
I hope this bid wins today!
yowza! I go out for a few hours, and look what happens! How cool is this?ReplyDelete
I can't believe it... but here goes:
I really wanted this critique, like everyone on this board. I want to wish everyone good luck. I'm sure Mary is so worth every dime and the money is for a great cause. I was willing to go to $1,500 - but I think I may be out. I will ponder for a few more minutes.ReplyDelete
If I had the means...alas I do not. But I do have to point out that this price is still equivalent to 11 query letter pages. So. Still a bargain.ReplyDelete
wow... Good luck to the winner. *sniff*ReplyDelete
Hey Mary, look for my query letter sometime down the road, it will begin with: RMFDTWTFN?
Remember me from... ;)
you have a point Marybk... we do still have an hour. *pondering*ReplyDelete
Thought I could sneak in a bid at the last minute - but found out that my hard drive recovery angel might be able to rescue 5 books I thought I had lost when it crashed. So as much as I LOVE Mary, I'll need to fork out to get back the books I could have sent. Glad to see how much everyone loves Mary and her feedback to get the bids so high, and for such a great cause.ReplyDelete
Good Luck Everyone!
What excellent news Angie!! Good luck :)ReplyDelete
Okay, here it goes: $2050ReplyDelete
THE BIDDING IS NOW CLOSED.ReplyDelete
BIDDERS ON THIS ITEM PLEASE CHECK THE MAIN PAGE.
wow. Congrats to the winner. I sure was hoping it could be me. This was fun :)ReplyDelete
Congratulations. This was a great auction.ReplyDelete

If any of the top 5 winners drop out, I will be happy to take your spot - otherwise thanks Mary for being so generous.ReplyDelete
Thanks Mary for such a generous donation.
What a great event!
WOW. I just read the latest post.ReplyDelete
Thanks Mary for extending your gift to this great cause.ReplyDelete
Congrats everyone! What a fabulous surprise and such a gift. Thank you Mary, you rock. All for an awesome cause. :)ReplyDelete
Congrats all! How exciting!!! So many fabulous people around here!ReplyDelete
Wow, I wish I had stuck it out just a little bit longer. That's great that you've extended your gift, Mary. If anyone of the top 5 drops out, I'd happily take their spot. Thanks!ReplyDelete
If I'm counting correctly, I'm in the 6th spot. Ah, so close!!!ReplyDelete
